These timeless earrings are based on one of the motifs from the Imperial Renaissance Egg by the workshop of Peter Carl Fabergé (Russian, 1846–1920). The Imperial Renaissance Egg was probably inspired by a 16-century casket known to Fabergé from his student days in Dresden. The chalcedony egg is ornamented with Renaissance-style decorations, brilliantly enameled in translucent colors and opaque white, and set with diamonds and cabochon rubies. It rests on a gold base with loop handles hanging from gold lion masks. Set in rose diamonds on the top of the egg, the date 1894 commemorates the year Czar Alexander III presented the egg to his wife, Maria Feodorovna.

I was looking for a pair of black and white earrings. I saw these in The Met Store catalog. I love them and wear them 2 or 3 days a week. One of my favorite purchases from The Met.
I bought these earrings to go with my Russian Imperial Magnifier pendant that i bought a few years ago. Lovely lovely set!!_x000D_
I receive compliments when i wear this set. Very happy with my purchase.
I receive lots of compliments on these earrings. They look more expensive than they are. I like them so much that I bought more to give to my daughters.
These earrings turned out to be even more impressive & beautiful than pictured._x000D_
I like to buy jewelry that can either dress up or go with my more casual attire._x000D_
I was a little concerned after reading a reviewers comment that said they don’t sit well on her ear lobes, however they fit well on mine._x000D_
Very glad I made this purchase & have been wearing them quite a bit already.
I love these earrings and have them in many colors. The black ones especially go with everything and I wear them with both dressy and casual clothing. Looking forward to more of the same earring in many other colors!
These black earrings with diamonds in the center are just what I need for an understated accent this holiday season. They're nicely made. But these studs are like wide discs on me and sit at an odd angle on my ear-lobe. Should they be smaller, thicker? Not sure.
