Lilac Clematis Necklace
Size Information
With its graceful cascade in 18K gold plate adorned with pale blue glass and cultured freshwater pearls, this eye-catching necklace evokes a lilac clematis plant (Atragene occidentalis). Its pretty form was adapted from a watercolor drawing in The Met collection.
The original drawing was made by Margaret Neilson Armstrong (American, 1867–1944). Between 1911 and 1914, she traveled the American west and recorded her findings; the results were published in 1915 in the Field Book of Western Wild Flowers, showcasing more than 500 of her botanical drawings—including this one.
