Description

This fanciful illustration of a mandrake root (Mandragora officinarum) appears in one of the first printed herbals, Peter Schöffer's 1485 Gart der Gesundheit, a medieval book that described and classified plants according to their medicinal, culinary, or magical uses. Powerful properties were ascribed to the storied root from very early times; its resemblance to a human form contributed to its reputation as an aphrodisiac and an aid to conception.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from eye-catching graphic, incredibly soft tee I bought this top for myself, at full price, because it was so appealing in the email ad, & am so happy I did. It is true to size and is cut for a woman with shorter sleeves, a flattering scoop neck, and the body follows my form, rather than a boxy shape. Also, there are small darts at the bottom of each side seam, allowing a slightly longer back panel. It's gorgeous.
