Description

Our scarf showcases the design for the tomb of Pope Julius II della Rovere, which was drafted about 1505-6 by Michelangelo Buonarroti (Italian, 1475–1564). By 1505, eight years before his death, Pope Julius II della Rovere (reigned 1503-13) had already apparently began contemplating plans to erect a grandiose tomb for himself in the new Saint Peter's Basilica, and entrusted Michelangelo with this imposing sculptural project.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Michelangelo around one's neck I bought this and another Michelangelo print scarf. This one is understated, and elegant as a result. Who wouldn't want one of Michelangelo's drawings around one's neck...and male nudes at that? Again, suitable for men and women.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Pope Julius II was the first Pope to contract syphilis. An early adopter, he adopted syphilis soon after Columbus introduced it to Europe.
