Description

Our canvas tote features a vivid folio from the Khamsa (Quintet), a magnificent manuscript based on verses by the great poet Amir Khusrau Dihlavi (Indian, 1253–1325). Taken from the Mughal emperor Akbar's (r. 1556–1605) own personal copy, this late 16th-century painting shows King Bahram Gur with the beautiful enslaved Dilaram, who could make animals sleep or awaken with the sound of her music.
