In 1824, Jean-Paul Robin established his hugely successful family business, catering to France's growing bourgeoisie. His bijoux sportifs captivated the fashion world: simple jewelry in enamel and chased gold that could be worn in casual circumstances rather than at formal occasions.
Jean-Paul's son, Prospère-Paul, took over the House of Robin in 1843. Interlacing historic and romantic themes with motifs from nature, his fantaisies jewelry attained even greater popularity. Designs from the House of Robin have deeply influenced jewelers of the 19th and 20th centuries.
