Description

An art scarf inspired by The Met collection.

From 1907 to 1937, the Graphic Section of The Met's Egyptian Expedition produced precise colored copies of decorations found in tombs. The bold design on this scarf comes from a 1924 painting by the Egyptologist Charles K. Wilkinson (American, 1897–1986). This striking motif, including columnar, spiraling, and faunal forms, reproduces the decoration on a fragment (ca. 1323–1295 BCE) from the ceiling of the tomb of Neferhotep in Thebes.
