Description

In 18th-century France, small decorative boxes for personal items were considered objects of luxury and status. Produced in a range of precious materials, gold was the most desirable. Our scarf celebrates three drawings in The Met collection for lavishly adorned boxes. Attributed to Pierre Moreau (French, 1722–1798), they feature elaborate neoclassical motifs popular in the latter half of the 18th century.
