This delightful decoupage tray shows details from a playing card in the Court Game of Geography (1838–55). Featuring 52 engraved, etched, and hand-colored cards, the game was produced by William and Henry Rock of London. The Queen of Hearts shows Catherine II of Russia.
Adapted from the Museum's Department of Drawings and Prints, this art-inspired design was made exclusively for The Met by John Derian. Based in New York City, Derian's workshop is celebrated for his unique decoupage creations featuring hand-blown glass.
