Celebrating Raphael: Sublime Poetry, a Met exhibition devoted to Raphael (Italian, 1483–1520), this scarf draws inspiration from the intricately patterned tapestry draped behind the Virgin Mary in Madonna and Child Enthroned with Saints. Painted around 1504 for the Franciscan convent of Sant’Antonio in Perugia, the altarpiece originally hung in a section of the church reserved for the nuns and features an elaborately clothed Christ. Our scarf reimagines the tapestry’s quatrefoil pattern in soft cream-and-gold wool, woven with glittering lurex threads for a luxurious finish.
