Redon Bouquet of Flowers Frame
This glass frame displays details from Bouquet of Flowers, a colorful pastel in The Met collection by Odilon Redon (French, 1840–1916). The rectangular frame is designed to hold a 4" x 6" picture.
As a young man, Redon enjoyed a close friendship with the curator of the botanical gardens in his hometown of Bordeaux. In floral still lifes—such as the lively work (ca. 1900–1905) featured on our frame—the artist demonstrated a naturalist's sense of wonder as well as a richly inventive imagination, mixing many different types of blooms and foliage in an effervescent floral arrangement.
