Renaissance Revival Pendant Necklace
Size Information
Our fashionable pendant necklace is crafted in 12K gold plate with glass stones. Its rich decorative design is adapted from a jeweled frame surrounding a miniature portrait of Margaret More (1505–1544). This delicate portrait in The Met collection was painted in 1535–36 by Hans Holbein the Younger (German, 1497/98–1543).
Renowned for her learning, More was the eldest child and favorite daughter of Sir Thomas More. The Renaissance-style frame around her tiny portrait—once owned by Alfred de Rothschild—was fashioned in the early 20th century by a London jeweler.
