Sargent Madame X Pendant Necklace
Size Information
The iconic Madame X was painted by John Singer Sargent in 1883–84. We have adapted a detail of his famous portrait for our elegant pendant in 22K gold plate with a glass cabochon and a 32'' chain.
The artist emphasized his subject's distinctive personal style, which included dramatic cosmetics and a daring gown. He originally showed the right strap of her gown slipping from her shoulder; after the painting caused a scandal at the 1884 Paris Salon, Sargent repainted the strap and kept the canvas for three decades before selling it to The Met.
