Spanish Sampler Wool-Blend Scarf
An embroidered Spanish sampler (1833) in The Met collection has been beautifully translated into this unisex scarf. Showcasing intricate geometric patterns stitched in multicolored silk, the original linen textile is among a group of samplers bequeathed to The Met by the estate of Mabel Harper (American, 1881–1957). A prominent New York collector who regularly traveled to Europe, Harper was known to comb the markets for rare textiles and antiques.
