The sphinx has a long history in Egyptian art, and the colossal example (ca. 1479–1458 BCE) from The Met collection on our stylish oversize tee portrays the female pharaoh Hatshepsut with the powerful body of a lion and an idealized human head wearing a nemes (headcloth and false beard).
