Statue of Liberty Paperweight
Art Glass Paperweight, Home Office Gift
Our patriotic paperweight shows details from a color lithograph by Currier & Ives (American, active New York, 1837–1907). Known affectionately as "Lady Liberty," Liberty Enlightening the World by Frédéric-Auguste Bartholdi (French, 1834–1904) raises her torch in New York Harbor. The image was printed in 1885 in anticipation of the statue’s American debut.
Adapted from the Museum's Department of Drawings and Prints, this art-inspired design was made exclusively for The Met by John Derian. Based in New York City, Derian's workshop is celebrated for his unique decoupage creations featuring hand-blown glass.
