The antics of Théophile-Alexandre Steinlen's (French, 1859–1923) favorite subject, domestic cats, are illustrated in the artist's most famous book, Des chats: images sans paroles (Cats: Pictures without Words), ca. 1898, a copy of which is in the Museum's collection. We have adapted our charming apron, oven mitt, and pot holder from drawings in Des chats.
