John Derian The Favorite Cat Paperweight
Art Glass Paperweight, Home Office Gift
Our decoupage paperweight features the alert gaze of a handsome tabby. It is taken from The Favorite Cat (1838–48), a hand-colored lithograph by Nathaniel Currier (American, 1813–1888), who gained lasting fame as coprincipal of Currier & Ives. They were renowned in the latter half of the 19th century for their wildly popular prints.
Adapted from the Museum's Department of Drawings and Prints, this art-inspired design was made exclusively for The Met by John Derian. Based in New York City, Derian's workshop is celebrated for his unique decoupage creations featuring hand-blown glass.
