Description

The marble torso on which our reproduction is based (Roman, Imperial period, 1st or 2nd century A.D.) is a copy or adaptation of a Greek statue of the fourth century B.C. The sinuous leaning pose of this youth brings to mind a famous statue of the deity Pothos, the mythological personification of erotic longing (pothos means desire), that was much copied in the Roman period. Based on this evocative Roman work, our reduced-scale reproduction was created with a combination of three- dimensional imaging and traditional sculpture techniques.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great We loved the statue and it fits in our home  beautifully. There was a mistake in your description of the product. It is listed as 18 in. And it is much bigger, almost 24in. That was not a problem the bigger size working just fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The statue is a beautiful reproduction of the original. Skillfully made and quite heavy. It compares well with another torso from the museum store, although the styles are quite different. An appropriate choice for someone unable to obtain an ancient masterpiece!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderfully detailed Torso! This statue is absolutely beautiful and worth every penny! It is a very large statue and looks great on a Roman pedestal. It is very tall and weighty and extremely well detailed in all ways. This reproduction is semt very well packaged for shipment. Highly recommended!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thrilled I purchased a Greek torso recently and am very happy with the recreation. It's a heavy piece with a beautiful mount. It was packaged incredible well, and shipped quickly. It lives in the living room and looking at it reminds me of a rather invigorating trip to Greece. Worth every penny I paid for it.
