Van Gogh Roses Salad Plate Set
Our set of four stoneware plates display details from Roses, the celebrated still life in The Met collection by Vincent van Gogh (Dutch, 1853–1890). The appealing ceramic design highlights the artist's sumptuous rose petals and dark foliage on a pale green ground. The floral plates with scalloped edges make an elegant choice for a luncheon party or dessert.
In May 1890, just before his departure from the asylum in Saint-Rémy, the artist painted an exceptional group of four still lifes, to which the Museum's Roses, (and also Irises) belong. These stunning bouquets were created by Van Gogh as a thematic quartet.
