Description

The umbrella's ornate pattern evokes the etched design on the backplate of an armor in The Met collection. The original, in gold, steel, leather, and copper alloy, was made about 1595 by Pompeo della Cesa (ca. 1537-1610), the foremost Milanese armorer of the late 16th century. His royal patrons included Philip II of Spain, the duke of Parma, and the duke of Savoy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love this When I am under this umbrella and look up at the pattern I feel transported to old Europe. The pattern is beautiful - in a silvery gray - and somehow architectural. The umbrella seems to be of good quality - sturdy and with a crisp open/close function.
