I bought this for a Christmas present hoping it would be of familiar lullabies and singing that was for a baby was not as professional as I was expecting. As so was the mother. Was not pleased on both fronts, though the pictures in the book are beautiful. This was my first disappointment in purchasing from the Met store an item with music.
The book means that you have all the lyrics for these classic lullabies. The pictures in the book are all paintings from the museum. Good as an early introduction to art, music and reading! Also ideal for an excuse to hold your child (or grandchild) in your lap and get in some cuddle time as you read along with the CD.
This CD features the entrancing and soothing voice of Julianne Baird in simple yet perfect arrangements of the best lullabies ever written. The accompanying book has stunning reproductions of artwork showing nurtured babies. This CD kept my sanity while my son was a baby because it always calmed him down, so I recently bought the set for my friend's newborn.
This is a lovely book and CD for expectant parents. They can sing to the baby before it is born. It is pretty eurocentric though, so I felt uncomfortable giving it to friends of non-european origin. Also wish there was perhaps a lower cost version without the CD included as there used to be.
I bought this book for my friend's kid . I thought it is great gift for kid who's family members don't speak English and want their baby to learn English.
