Gather around the Christmas tree alongside twenty-four fanciful birds with this interactive pop-up Advent calendar from The Met. Each day of Advent, find and open the numbered door. Remove the bird inside and hang it on the pop-up tree by slipping the folded tab over a branch. On Christmas Day, top off the birds' nested Christmas tree with a golden star.
The calendar is based on the watercolor Avian Holiday (1953) by Adolf Dehn (American, 1895–1968). Known for his humorous satires and social commentaries on modern life, Dehn, whose work is in The Met collection, concentrated as a young artist on printmaking before focusing on watercolors in 1937.

I was so extremely dissapointed with this, it was certainly not worth the price. The paper is flimsy and cheap and the birds are poorly reproduced. They look as if they have been cut out by a small child and are not nice clear inages. I was hoping that it would be something that could be reused year on year, I doubt it will withstand one. I have honestly had higher quality card stock for a much lower price from local stationary shops.
I am honestly doubting the veracity of the other reviews.
I buy advent calendars for my nieces , nephews and children every year. Their age range now spans from 14 to 28 and everyone LOVED this calendar. So beautifully made.
I was happy to see this full of the birds and on display on the sideboard at Christmas breakfast. I gave it to my high-school aged nephew for Advent and I think he enjoyed it. :)
This advent calendar is so unique. I wish there was a bit more variety in the birds but it’s a stunning and unique and fun piece. I think I’ll be able to tuck the birds back in their windows and reuse next year too, although haven’t tried yet. Definitely will be a yearly staple for holiday season!
This was sent as an early Christmas to a friend who watches all kinds of birds in her rural neighborhood. She is as pleased with it as I am for the variety of birds and bird colors.
