This reduced-scale reproduction pays homage to The Little Fourteen-Year-Old Dancer by Edgar Degas (French, 1834–1917). The beloved bronze adaptation of this famous work in The Met collection was cast in 1922. This resin statuette is dressed in fabric and stands on a wooden base; it will provide an artistic flourish among your decor or in a child's room.
For his sculpture, as well as for his painting, Degas found a ready source of inspiration in the ballet dancers of the Paris Opéra. The original sculpture, modeled after dancer Marie van Goethem, is one of several that he formed in various positions allowing him to explore the subtle variations in the dynamics of movement and of tension within the human figure. Degas enhanced the realistic qualities of the model by adorning it with real clothes including a bodice, tutu, and ballet slippers, and even added a human-hair wig held back with a silk ribbon.

stunning sculpture! the tulle dress and ribbon in her hair just completes the piece. very good quality, came wrapped well and in a box for storage. I bought the small size and it's just perfect.
I saw this sculpture many years ago in Boston. This excellent rendition put a delighted smile on my bride face (the former dancer). As you can see, it made it to the top of her bureau!
Thank you,

I've always loved Degas Little Dancer sculpture and always wanted a replica. None of the ones I had seen in the past had the fabric tutu--that's the coolest part! Plus I love the yellow top--adding color was a great idea. Also, it came very quickly.
I bought this as a gift for my daughter's 18th birthday. We saw the original sculpture at the museum while visiting a couple of months ago. Degas is one of her favorite artists. This mini sculpture is a beautiful reproduction. She loves it!
I purchased this to replace a full resin version that my wife had many years ago and had given it to a very good friends daughter who had danced in the Nutcracker Suite a few years back. My wife loves this one even more! The colors and fabric make this all the more special. I suggest this for any aspiring or past, present or future dancer!
