Step Two: Choose to Print Your Custom Reproduction on Paper or Canvas

Once you’ve selected the image that resonates with you, you can view our available sizes in a room and to scale before choosing to have it printed on paper or canvas.

A reproduction of Irises, 1890. Vincent van Gogh. Oil on canvas. Gift of Adele R. Levy, 1958.

Printed with archival-quality pigment inks on high-resolution, large-format 12-color printers, our fine art paper substrate is acid and lignin free. The bright white base color and smooth matte finish allows for the highest quality reproduction possible. Glazing is in high-quality acrylic for safety in shipping.

All canvas prints are hand-stretched over wood stretcher bars and are ready to hang whether framed or unframed. The wood bars are cut and assembled so the image occupies the entirety of the front plane of the stretched canvas with no cropping and in the native proportions of the image. The base color of the canvas is bright white to ensure vibrancy and accuracy in the reproduction of colors. Printed with archival-quality pigment inks on high-resolution, large-format, 12-color printers, our cotton canvas has a tight, natural weave. A semimatte UV coating is applied after printing both protection and to enhance the depth and richness of the image.

Step Three: Choose a Frame

You can decide whether or not to frame your Met Custom Print, and choose from a selection of frame styles.

A reproduction of Irises, 1890. Vincent van Gogh. Oil on canvas. Gift of Adele R. Levy, 1958.

If you opt for an unframed canvas, the stretcher has a deeper, one-and-a-half-inch profile with the side edges tinted in a neutral warm gray. If you prefer your canvas to be framed, the side edges will be hidden. A framed print on paper includes a three-inch double mat with a four-ply buffered matboard in a natural white color.

Once your order is placed, your custom art print will typically be produced and shipped within 10 business days.

Questions

  • How do I choose the right dimensions for my custom art print?

When selecting the dimensions for your custom art print, consider the space in which the print will be displayed as well as the scale of the original artwork. Size options are often limited to the dimensions of the original Met artwork, and smaller artworks can only be offered in smaller sizes. Measure your wall space and choose a size that complements the decor of the room.
  • How long does it take to receive my custom art print?

Custom art prints are typically produced and shipped within 10 business days. Once your order is complete, you will receive shipping details and a tracking number to monitor the delivery of your print.
  • Can I return or exchange my custom art print if I'm unsatisfied?

Custom art prints are made to order, so sales are final and nonreturnable. However, if the print is damaged, please save all original packaging, and contact us at store.support@metmuseum.org or call 800-662-3397, Monday–Friday, 9 am–5 pm (ET).
